His Guild D55NT, complete with cigarette burn on the headstock and what are believed to be the set of strings that were on it when Eric owned it, is one of many music memoribilia lots going under the hammer.

I expected the comments section of that article to be full of rabid Clapton-hating trolls who had found their way there from youtube or 4chan, or at least cork-sniffing acoustic types arguing violently over Guild vs. Martin, but instead found this, from:

'Busy Working Mum'
"I’ll never understand why nice looking young men wear these beards that age them so horrendously."

It's good to know that, outside of the internet, and for busy working mums, life goes on as usual.

There's a nice demo on the Sweetwater site. I have always been partial to Guilds. Here's yet another reason. The guy's certainly a player, too.

While I'm a big fan of Clapton, I've never been one of putting additional sentiment or value into an object just because someone famous owned it or touched.

Me too but, I'll bet a commode from Graceland would fetch a large price as well. It's still just a toilet.

That sort of stuff does matter to some folks. It's sort of like collecting autographs.

Psychologically it's related to the reason some criminals keep souvenirs of their crimes to later re-live the thrill/experience.

Nothing magical at all about a thing that was once owned by a famous person.

But I did dig up Howlin' Wolf and make a guitar nut out of one of his fingerbones.

Better than making a fingerbone out of one of his......oh wait. That's not right.

Especially if it was the one Elvis was sitting on when he died.
