I'm thinking of replacing the Shuguang tubes that came stock on my DSL 40c and the Tung Sols seem to get the best reviews online that i can find.

EL34Bs and 12ax7s.

Using the 6L6s and AX7s in my venerable Hot Rod Deluxe.

They have the characteristics of, well, good old tubes.

They just don't last as long (none of them do any more) - every couple years I have to swap at least one out.

Admittedly I run it hard with an attenuator but... :)

Well worth the $$ though

Thanks Rev, much appreciated. I just don't think those stock tubes sound like they should.

Been using Tung Sol 12AX7 tubes for quite a while now. They are affordable, last reasonably well and sound quite good. A number of years ago I did a round-robin test with something like 10 different 12AX7 tubes in the same amp (Peavey Delta Blues w/one Weber 15" California speaker in it). Tried everything I could reasonably afford: GE-NOS, Tung Sol, Electro Harmonix, Sovtek (various), JJ, etc., etc.; can't even remember them all at this point. The Tung Sols sounded the most dynamic of all the tubes to me. The Electro Harmonix 12AX7-EH were quite good, too. Sovtek 12AX7-LPS was OK. But I personally like the Tung Sols the best and have gone with those since.

I also have the Tung Sol 6L6 tubes in both my Allen Amps. Sound good, work fine.

Edited for spelling...
