I remember getting spiced ham on rye at a Deli in Calumet City, IL.

Yes indeed, it was quite good.

I love me some hard salami. NTTAWWT.

Many cold cuts are Kryptonite to Islamic terrorists.

Which makes me love ‘em all, pretty much. It’s like having shark repellent AND a delicious sandwich when you’re at the beach.

Thanks MJB, I went on Hormel's website but didn't find much. I sent them a message asking for a west coast distributor. We shall see.

After a little back and forth with Hormel it looks like I will have to move to Chicago to get my Spiced Ham fix. Here is the last email I got from them.

"H101:
Thanks for inquiring about Hormel Spiced Ham. Unfortunately this item has very little interest by the majority of consumers on the West Coast. For this reason the retailers out West do not carry this item in their delis. It's real popular in the Midwest, like Chicago, but that is not case in the California market. Sorry I couldn't be of more help."

Hormel was actually very responsive and tried to help. Not a popular "meat" out here so I will continue to do without.

Ate an entire package of prosciutto in the studio last night.

Totally worth it.

I had hoped they would at least send a voucher for something they sold out here. Back to "Ham Off The Bone" I guess.

It's like trying to find stuffed cabbage or pierogi in a restaurant out here. No polish food.

My local supermarket sells Hormel Spiced Ham. It was on sale this past week. I had never heard of it before this post, but my ears perked up as soon as the lady next to me at the counter ordered a pound of it.

They offer online ordering/delivery, but I'm thinking 3,000 miles is too far for them. Maybe its worth calling to see if you can set up a special order?

I shop at Publix in Florida during the winter. They sell Boar's Head cold cuts and BH stuff is definitely a couple of rungs up the ladder over Deitz and Watson and store brands. Safeway here in town sells DW and it's not even close to BH. When I had my Pepsi route in NJ during the 80's, Boar's Head routes were the top of the line.

Publix will give you a slice to sample. Thank you very much. May I have another?

Thanks JAFO, I plugged in a bunch of zip codes, mine, central Los Angeles, San Diego and came up with nada.

All of our better stores here carry Boar's Head and D & W meats. I know a deli manager at a local Albertson's who is always trying to upsell me with samples. He even gives me the better meats and the lower meat price some times. I'll see what he can do for me on the BH Spiced Ham. The store is only a few miles from home.

Yeah! The BH Spiced Ham is only $6.99 a pound at Shop Rite.....road trip! Not!
