I have a coffee mug more like a bucket with a handle. It holds almost half of our 14 cup pot.

Enjoying Papua New Guinea this morning.

But I don’t have a problem and I can stop any time I want.

I used to work as a customer service rep at a furniture store while working on my undergrad. Most days, the office manager and I would kill 2-3 pots a day between us. The sales staff used to like to say that we ran on caffeine and meaness, but that was mostly because they had their heads up there you-know-whats all the time and would dump customers on us that they had promised the moon when they knew we couldn't deliver, leaving us to clean up their mess.

I've since had a couple of caffeine overload scares where I've felt like my heart was going to explode in my chest, and I've cut way, way back. Now I typically drink 1-2 cups in the morning and one in the afternoon. I'm sure my heart thanks me for it. :-)

Having moved to using a 20 oz thermal mug (Yeti or Ozark Trail), I drink about a half a pot a day.

I'm not with the trend of giant coffee mugs. I only want about six ounces of coffee at a time. But I want that time to come around at least five times a day.

When we're both home I brew a half-caff in the afternoons. Also my own roast.

So I probably drink close to a pot a day.

Not bragging.

Well...

A friend of mine will make a pot at 10pm and drink the whole thing. And then go to bed and sleep like a baby.

If I tried that I'd be laying in bed vibrating like I had put a quarter in the "Magic Fingers" machine.

Remember, the darker the roast, the less the caffeine.

It's the roasting that causes cancer. In California places that serve coffee (7-11, McDonalds etc) will have to post a sign as follows:

A nonprofit that believes coffee could cause cancer has persuaded businesses, by way of a lawsuit, to issue warnings on all ready-to-drink brews sold in California.

At least 13 companies, most recently 7-Eleven, have settled with the Council for Education and Research on Toxics (CERT) after its 2010 lawsuit, and promised to add warnings to served coffee, CNN reports.

The suit asks for the warning to say this is a "chemical known to cause cancer" or "chemical that causes cancer" in a label at least 10 inches by 10 inches in the establishment.

You know "di-int", right? That's how they say "did not" nowadays.

While I'd love to say my prior post is satire sadly it's not. But I'm a coffee drinker too and choose to ignore the warnings as a lot of BS.
