I've been checking out the 9mm version of this pistol with or w/o the laser.

Anyone handle one of these and your thoughts. I would be using for CC.

CO2 ... is there anything it can't do?

A guy at my club has one and let me put a mag through it.

I have the first gen Shield. The first thing I did was install Talon grips and shortly thereafter I installed the Apex duty/carry kit to fix the ten pound MA trigger.

The 2.0 Shield felt pretty much identical to my modified version so I certainly wouldn't trade mine to go with the newer model.

That said, the Shield is my main warm weather carry gun (9mm - no laser). I like it a lot.

I've been waiting for the 2.0 45C to become more readily available in my state. It's next on my list.

I got an original Shield for a great deal. I did take a look at the 2.0, but the differences weren't worth the difference in price.

That being said, I would ditch my Shield ( and my PPS M2) in a heartbeat for a SIG P365. If I wasn't unemployed, I would have preordered one. All of the reviews I'm seeing are extremely positive.

I have several M&Ps including pair of Gen1 Shields (a 9 and a 40), neither get used any more since I started transitioning back to Glocks in 2015. Absolutely nothing wrong with the M&Ps, Glocks just fit me better.

However, a friend is in the process of getting his CCW and just bought his first gun - an M&P9 2.0 Compact. I had a chance to shoot it the other night and am very impressed - the trigger out of the box is as good as or better than my Apex kit equipped M&Ps. Not bad for a whopping $399 plus the transfer.
