Like Europe is some dangerous place?

Wear something concealed and carry a wallet with old cards and a little cash somewhere accessible.

Let them take it, wherever it is you get 'mugged'.

Use cash everywhere, don't hand your card over to anyone.

Easy steps to safety.

Got to be especially careful in the likes of LA.

Saturn, I tried to wear something concealed during my recent visit to Ireland, however, the publican at my favorite watering hole in Dublin objected to my Glock 9 bulging from where I normally wear my money belt!

During my travels overseas, I carried external wallet & passport holder. It carried my wallet, passport, airline ticket, pen, & cash.

Mine is high quality leather but the same idea as in the link.

I guess I'm fairly relaxed when it comes to security: when traveling overseas I leave my passport/valuables in a "hidden" part of my suitcase in the hotel room along with my traveling cash, and keep walking around money, cards, and ID in my usual slim credit card wallet. If I'm travelling with everything the passport/cash goes in a zippered inner layer of my backpack.

Have used this daily for 4 years, minimal wear, still keeps the cards taut. Can hold a few hundred $$$ in cash until you break the bills.

^ When I do stay in hotels I use the in-room safe. But usually I would travel to my destination. No hotels.

“When I do stay in hotels I use the in-room safe.“

I do that too. I also split the cash between myself and my wife, if one wallet is lost, only half the money we’re carrying is.

I have a few items from Saddleback. They are guaranteed top shelf, and come with the following warranty: 'They'll fight over it when you're dead'.

I probably should have mentioned that I meant domestic travel, a passport holder is unnecessary for me. Technically I could bring my normal wallet, I just don’t need all that stuff.

Which means I probably don’t need it all the time.

There are also wallets which are RFI protected so that the information on the credit card´s chip can not be read from a distance. My wife and I used those to go to London last year. We have continued to use them here.

There are also small RFI protected sleeves to hold individual cards in a regular wallet.

Worth considering.

" Like Europe is some dangerous place? "

All countries, cities have some areas that are less safe than others, some downright dangerous. As a resident, you generally know the areas to avoid. As a traveler, you are not familiar with the territory like a resident so chances are you might end up somewhere unadvisable. It's sound thinking to take steps to protect yourself and your valuables no matter where you are. When you are at home, you probably don't think about it until you head down to that seedy little club in a sketchy part of town with the great band...

To be honest, to my personal on the spot observation you’re more likely to be the victim of a vehicle break-in or simple strong arm robbery in parts of the UK than you are in the majority of the US. Casual crime seemed endemic.

Example - in one week spent in Glastonbury (not during the festival) one of the local PCs I was talking with said they had over forty vehicle break-ins, and just under a dozen street thefts and robberies (mostly snatch and runs.)

I love the UK, but I keep my head on a swivel when I go.

To the post, Magpul is making a new pocket wallet that seems cheap and well designed.

Heads up, you'll soon need more than that three year old drivers license to board US domestic flights. Passport is good, DL will need an upgrade. I think this hits in 2019 or 2020.

^ When I renewed my passport last time, I opted to additionally get the passport card — thought It would be handy (vs. the large passport itself.)

I'm due for license renewal soon and will be getting a "Real ID". Got my passport, SS Card, recent mortgage bill and certified birth certificate so I shouldn't have any issues. My wife couldn't get one a few days ago because she needed our marriage license to prove name change. All she has to do is go back with that to get upgraded.

It has already been an issue in Missouri. A lot of people got passports last year because a state privacy law prohibits agencies from releasing certain information that is required for Real ID compliance. It was supposed to go into effect Jan. 1, but I think another extension has been granted.

One of the reasons I sprung for a passport card last time - IL is dragging their heels at becoming compliant with RealID.

Possibly. That deadline has already been extended several times.

Here's some Real ID info.

My FL DL is compliant and I remember having to provide a lot of specific ID stuff when I got the license in 2016.
