Life makes a man tired.
Jan 22nd, 2018 07:22 AM   Edit   Profile   Print Topic   Search Topic

It looks like Lady's time is coming to an end. She's a 13 y/o Boxer. That is about the end of the run for them.

She is short and stocky. Built more like a Pit Bull than a Boxer. A very willful dog. Incredibly smart - enough to get herself in some good trouble from time to time. She has a huge heart and loves to cuddle more than anything.

She can hardly use her back legs. This started over the last week. She's also always had digestive issues and those are getting worse too. And she can't get enough water these days either.

She goes to the vet tonight. Maybe for the last time.

Lady

Sorry to hear about all this.

My lab/dalmation mix was 13 when we had him put down. He could not walk any more. But he got up and walked when the vet came into our back yard to make a house call with the shot that put him down.

Their lives are too short.

You gave her a good one, which is far more than some dogs get from their owners.

Sincerest condolences.

Sorry for all you're going through right now, Eric. Prayers for peace and renewed faith.

13 years for *most* boxers is a pretty long run (we have friends here whose 3rd is almost gone, and my son has a Brindle that's @ 8 years old).

My sympathies for your Lady. I lost my little pit bull, Petey, 20 years ago and I can identify with Mr. Bojangles in the song, "after 20 years he still grieves." Remember the good times.

Thank you all.

I’ve only known her for the last three years. She instantly attached to me.

The first time the soon-to-be Mrs. Leftee invited me to her house I sat in the living room in the chair and a half. Lady immediately crawled onto my lap and looked across at her as if to say, “let’s keep this one.”

Dogs know best. :-)

Give her a very big hug while she appreciates it and be assured that you're doing the right thing for her and yourselves.

Thanks all.

She’s at the vet now. I’m waiting (in Shreveport) to hear what’s up. I hope she has some more good time left. It would suck to lose her and my sister so close to each other.

She has a torn ACL. They gave her some doggy dope. They wanted to do surgery but we think she’s too old for general anethesia.

So we have a bit of a reprieve - which is nice. :-)
