I'm sure this poor guitar probably has an identity crisis by now...

Since 2002 it has been stripped; refinished; been through numerous pickup swaps, saddle changes, multiple pickguard colours yada yada yada...

The past year it has been set up with two different 2-pickup/3-way switch configurations, and NOW...

a set of custom hand-wound Tele pickups with a custom cut pickguard; pearl-top dome knobs and a Gibson 3-way toggle switch.

I'm *pretty* sure this is it's final incarnation :^)

These pickups sound great and I *love* the 2 pickup set up.
They're hand-wound locally by Dave Leddin (Leddin Pickups). These are his Vintage CBS tele set with the neck pickup tuned to be more "stratty" (ala Twisted Tele).

I did the pickguard out of a strat blank and it was quite challenging in getting the layout exactly spot on.
I must have measured, laid out and measured every hole about six times before a drill bit even came in contact with it. In the end it paid off and is (very nearly) perfect.

Behold... the Mick Reid Strato Tele!!!

I love the weird, slightly off-center projects.

Very trick! The color and pup configuration sets it apart.

That color is really something to look at with the RW neck.

Thanks guys!

I hate to think about the money that's flowed through that "cheap guitar" but over 15 years most everything I've learnt about modding has been done on it. (with the guidance & encouragement of the good folk here)

Most importantly, it consistently plays and sounds really, really great.

"Nice Mick and i love that...

(ala Twisted Tele)."

Hah! Maybe that's what I'll name it!

edited for grammar :^)

That thing is just plain kewl! Very surfy, very Strat and very Tele all at the same time.

Other than a Tele headstock, I would not change a thing if it were my very own.

Nice guitar mate.

Cool guitars - listen to the lyrics

"I wanna see the guts."

You *always* wanna see the guts!!

And it *always* rattles my insecurities :^)

Even while I was soldering, I was getting pangs of anxiety thinking about WWPD.
