In case anybody is interested, here's a few pics I took this past weekend in Richmond, Virginia. I was there because my niece got married at the John Marshall Hotel there.

I would have taken a few more pics, but it was pretty cold here this past weekend.

The Virginia State Capitol is obscured by grandstands erected in preparation of the inauguration of our new Governor on 1/13.

Miller & Rhoads was a major department store in Richmond, and elsewhere, in the 1960's. That building is now converted to condos.

Very nice -- congrats to you and your niece.

Why is the statue of Stonewall Jackson still standing? The history deniers just haven't gotten around to pulling it down yet?

Lots of great history in this town, and state.

"Why is the statue of Stonewall Jackson still standing?"

Because Virginia wants it there!

The John Marshall Hotel is a historic structure and hotel. That's where my niece got married. Very nice place. It's been turned into luxury condos now but they still have the grand foyer and a couple ballrooms you can rent out.

"Because Virginia wants it there!"

Well -- that's good. It didn't seem like that back in November.

Can still remember our yearly Christmas time trip to Richmond to see the holiday displays in their front windows. Thalhimers was another one... such a different world from the sticks of southern Va.
