When I was in my 50s I had two detached retinas and a heart attack. Things got better in my 60s, until last year when I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins follicular b-cell lymphoma. Six months of monthly rounds of chemo and I was pronounce all clear.

Yesterday I had a CT Scan to make sure there is no recurrence. Results next week.

We enter the age of the organ recital. The age where old friends get together & recite all of their heart, lung, kidney, prostate, etc problems.

I ran into a friend at the grocery store the other day and had to cut the conversation after ailments and treatments started taking it over. I can't stand that part of getting old.

Be that as it may, your hard work keeping this place running and your good company here are certainly still appreciated, FWIW.

Take heart.......I'm seventy now and am in better shape now than I was when I was fifty. Early retirement had a lot to do with it.

I have aches and pains when trying to play with my 3 yr. old grandson. As soon as they arrive, he is ready for me to play with him and he goes nonstop until they leave. I love it but I still hurt. I'm 68.

I was thinking that getting fitter would be a good thing but does the consequence of further wear and tear counteract the benefit ?

:(

Is there a balance in the somewhere and everyone needs to find their on level ?

Here is the ultimate insult to age.

About two weeks ago I was moving furniture and generally doing a bit of heavy lifting. I stepped off landing and didn't land right. In the process I twisted my knee. Every time I walked steps I aggravated it. So I decided lay off the next week or so to let it recover. To help things along I got a cane to reduce weight on the bad knee.

Just about when the knee started to recover I dropped the cane. I bent over to pick up the cane and got turned awkward...and twisted the knee again.

In other words I injured myself bending over to pick up my walking cane.
