I have a Squier Deluxe Strat coming in late January that has DD single coils in it.

I've read good things elsewhere about them, but thought I'd check around here.
They're A5 pole pieces (not bar mags) MIK.

Anybody played or heard them?

FYI, here's a SD blog re: "Duncan Designed Pickups"

SC-101 is 4th up from the bottom of page

I had a guitar a few years back that had DD humbuckers. They seemed fairly comperable to the real Duncan model. They were good enough that I didn’t feel the need to swap them.

Don’t ask me what guitar. I forget.

Hey Leftee, thanks.
I had a Schecter C-1 Custom a few years ago that DD HB's in it too. I thought they sounded very good as well.

However, it was another chapter in my book entitled "I'm Really Not A Humbucker Guy".

:^)

Anyone got anything on the single coils?

I think the guitar I had was a Schecter S1.

OK, I can now tell you (those interested) that the DD SC-101's are a brilliant sounding pickup!

I honestly can't see swapping them for any reason unless I decided to go noiseless.

But that said, the guitar is dead quiet in positions 1/3/5. (at least in my house, haven't been out with it yet)

According SD: "The SC-101 single coils represent a tonal cross between Seymour Duncan’s SSL-2 Vintage Flat and SSL-6 Custom Flat models."

Based on the SD descriptions of those two models, I couldn't say it better myself.

They absolutely have beef and punch but retain chime, and quack very nicely in 2 & 4 positions.
Nicely balanced tone IMO.

So there you have it!
