Mine were the NU>X Loop Core Deluxe and TC Electronic "UniTune" clip on.

The Loop Core is obviously a looper (including an external foot controller). Very clever little unit with on-board rhythms.
And the UniTune is the same accuracy and brilliant display clip-on tuner without the "polytune" feature. (which I never use on my PT2's)

Wud ju get???

"Bootstrats."

I guess they *could* be musical...

Especially if you put steel taps on the soles and did a C&W variation on "River Dance"!!

Nothing musical this year. But my son got his wife a mandolin. She already has a violin and knows how to play, thanks to a Suzuki-style teacher for our grandson.

As you know, a mandolin is tuned just like a violin.

My present to myself which I just this minute hit 'buy it now' on is a Coldcraft Harmonic Tremolo. I've been stuck on the sofa for a week with flu, watching music videos mostly. Discovered The Bros. Landreth, thoroughly enjoying their stuff. And then saw their singer & guitarist Joey Landreth in an interview with Andertons store where they had a 1960 Fender Super (I think) amp.

Now I didn't know about harmonic tremolo, didn't even know such a thing existed, it was a complete revelation to me. Apparently Fender amps I think from around 1959-63 had harmonic tremolo. For anyone who doesn't know, the principle is that the signal is split into two, higher frequencies and lower frequencies. These are then phase reversed against each other. The resulting tremolo gives a lush, full warble, quite different from the later Blackface tremolo and the kind I was familiar with from pedals etc which is just an up/down volume change affecting all frequencies evenly.

So I did a lot of looking around and there are several harmonic tremolos on the market, but they are all boutique prices. Over here that means at least 200 GB Pounds. And there aren't many second hand either. I did a lot of comparing on youtube and the one I really liked for features and tone was the Coldcraft. But their website lists it as out of stock. None of the usual stores have them. Nothing on Amazon. On ebay, I found one available second hand in Japan. Free postage, and £113 after paypal's extortion sorry exchange rate. So it looks like I've got the only one of these available for sale anywhere in the world. And I don't often buy gear so I'm very happy to have this on it's way! Happy Christmas to me!

I got two picks made out of quarters.

I tried one on my acoustic and it actually sounds really good.

They're smaller than I prefer, but they would be good for when you need a lot of volume.

No musical gifts for me this year. However, my brother gave his nine year old daughter a MIM Strat. I supplied a strap, tuner, cable, and a NOS Vox AC4TV amp.
