My bad left out the meat of the question!!Had a brain fart. Can the 1 ply pick guard "which comes standard" be replaced w/ a 3 ply pick guard, or will there be some height issues here, if the 3 ply is not standard on the Fender Squire Affinity series Strat

It's not a problem. I replace the 1 ply that came of my 57AVRI with a 3-ply. No issues.

Yeah--thickness is not a problem.

Be advised, though, you may need to drill a few new holes in the body because not all pickguards are created equal. Even a real-deal Fender replacement 'guard might need to be fitted to the body because the mounting screw locations in the original and replacement 'guards may be slightly off.

If any screw hole in more than about 1/64" off, you'll need to plug the existing hole in the body and re-drill. Forcing a pickguard to fit always results in the plastic buckling in the direction you're forcing it.
