I sure have a bunch of threads here, sorry if my username is getting old.

Anyway I had this idea to build an offset Tele with a top loading strat bridge, 2 or 3 mini buckers (maybe firebird pups) ones that do not have pole pieces showing, chrome ones.

I will design a custom pickguard for it. I want to build the body myself and my first thought is to buy a bandsaw to cut it out. Way outside of my building experience but I just did a complete fret replacement on a neck and being happy with the results I think it's time to get to the big boy stuff.

I have not played with any of these gibson pickups but I love the way they might look on this guitar idea. I will update on my progress.

Anyone of you experts ever put a set of mini humbuckers in a Tele? Both positions? I think they tend to be on the hot side but I can have them modded any way I choose right? I only have 9 guitars right now and I feel like I need to make something....I just love Tele's and have jonesed for an offset but I do not want to pay that price for an off the shelf guitar. Makes me sick, the prices people are asking these days.

That sounds like a very cool project. I can't help with advice as I've not built a body myself. But when you said offset and mini-humbuckers I was reminded of the kind of thing that Kauer Guitars do with their Firebird shape. Particularly in Pelham Blue, which looks fantastic. If you google-images Kauer and blue you'll see what I mean. They also do a couple of other offset shapes as well which will show up in that search.

Another thought, why the strat hardtail bridge if it's going to have tele design elements? You could use a tele cut-down bridge and keep the 3 brass saddles look, Wilkinson make one.

It's going to be good!

Actually, I'll link that search, see if this works:

Thanks for the link! There are some fine looking guitars. I want the bridge to be a top loading and I had not thought about that too much other than it not being a string thru. The G.E. Smith Tele has a short bridge.

Seymore Duncan's mini hummers are wonderful pickups.

Tonally they are somewhere between a hot Strat pickup and a P90. I have an old ESP body with two SM1's and a TOM bridge. It does have a sound that is unlike any other guitar I own--lots of bite when cranked up.
