I've looked into it twice and was completely unimpressed with what they offered vs. doing your homework and grinding the bastards down without an assist from Costco. YMMV.

I tried it once, but was able to get a better price just by e-mailing dealers and asking them to quote their best price on a specific model with specific options.

Ditto. Same for their "vacation services" and "optical services." Some things Costco does very well: groceries and tires, other things, not-so-much.

I've found the optical department to be all that as well as some home services. We went through Costco to deal with a local HVAC dealer after we got their best price on a new heater unit. By throwing Costco into the mix, the price got lower and was the lowest we could find between all the HVAC dealers locally. In addition, we got something like a $200-300 Costco gift card on top of the better pricing. Point being, shop around, do your homework, and then see if Costco can offer something extra.

For optical services I found a new place called "Americas Best." It really is the best. So much better than Costco. I purchased two pairs of prescription glasses today for $39 total cost.

We just bought an LG washer/dryer through Costco.com.

We've had a problem with the dryer, but that was due to the knucklehead delivery/setup guy, not Costco.

We'll see how they do in getting it fixed. The price was certainly excellent.

I've used Costco optical a couple of times. The only thing I found disappointing was the anti-reflective coating, which starts to wear off in spots after about a year.

Not my experience, Tom. My wife, one son, and I all have glasses from Costco (although I bring in my own frames as does my son) and have never had an issue with the coating (which I imagine Costco would cover in any event).

I love my Costco glasses. They are so superior to any I have worn previously I wonder if I have ever had glasses made right before Costco. I also question the quality of $39 glasses but YMMV.

Also, I am very pleased with Costco tire shop. My Michelin Pilots are great and Costco maintains them meticulously. For free.
