The guy at Barnes & Noble had to retrieve it from its shipment box. I bought the very first one. Am taking the rest of the day off to rejoice.

I listened to most of it on the way to work today...with a 45-60 minute commute you need something to pass the time.
I'm not a Brian Jones fan-boy...but a lot of his work on these recordings is amazing. Some of the recordings have a clarity the studio versions don't have because they didn't have to premix to free up tracks for overdubs and Jones' rhythm playing is A LOT clearer. In those early days when he was engaged and an active participant, Jones was an amazingly tight rhythm guitar player who could thrown little accents into his playing that really add to the song.

It's the era of The Stones that made me a fan.

I've felt that about the 'Live on the BBC 1 & 2' Beatles releases. You're just so used to hearing the album versions it's like a breath of fresh air to hear them played live under excellent studio conditions.

So far I've only heard the first 12 tracks, and oh how I love them. Yes, the guitar interplay between Keith and Brian is a joy to behold. Bill Wyman was doing some incredible stuff...especially noteworthy on the faster tracks.

But oh my gosh.....tracks 10-11-12:

"The Last Time"
"Cry to Me"
"Mercy Mercy"

A pure demonstration as to why they are still my favorite band. I shouted out to my wife as they began "Cry to Me"...."No waaayyyy!"....it is so dang good.

Thanks Charlie. In recent years I've really gotten into early live Stones, when Brian was fully engaged. I'll be buying this CD.
