I was never this careful in the past, like when I signed up here:-).

It is a legit forum I am about to join, no concern about that. But they are asking for name and birthdate. Need to provide real name?.....I will not provide real birthday for sure. Also they want zip code, state, occupation, education, and gender. Says these are "required details". But absent are the red asterisks for required fields.

FWIW ... I can say that many forums I participate in post a *Happy Birthday Today* line.

Most of what you say they are asking for would not get me up on the edge of my seat.

I'm on several Automotive/Classic Car forums.

Thanks, right, they say it is to say happy birthday.

I guess they do want info for marketing reasons as well.

Okay, I feel better now....

I may have written it in a humorous way; but, the message was serious.

There is no such thing as "just" on the internet.

Don't give away any personal information.

The FDP is the only forum I am signed up for -- and I did that back when I didn't know any better.

I expect that Rev Rob knows way more about me from the little info that I provided than I want him to know.

DON'T PUT PERSONAL INFO ON THE INTERNET.

Okay. I did the deed.

Ironically it is one of those sites that heavily vets
new members. Limited privileges for 30 days.
Mods need to approve posts for new members.
Hopefully they will accept me as full member
someday :-(.

The Camaro Forum I go to did that. It's fine.

The car forums get a lot of *peddlers* trolling through. That Camaro forum actually has an entire section of forums for vendors and individuals offering services of various types. Horn rebuilders, Tachometer rebuilders etc, etc.

Peegoo, I needed to read that out loud a couple of times.
Geezers are slow sometimes. A delayed ROTFL.
