a slip of a drill w/ a Phillips bit tore up my fretting index finger @ the second joint.
probably should have gotten a stitch or 2 but now it's too late, gig tomorrow night and a double on Sat.
the bit caught the skin while spinning, so it's not a clean knife cut.

looked like it was healing ok but opened up today in the shower, only slight bleeding that appears to have stopped now. flexing the joint makes it want to open up again.
I've heard of people using crazy glue or liquid bandage.

I need to retain flexibility in the joint so don't know if those methods are the way to go?

any suggestions to get me through these 3 gigs appreciated

CA glue is about the best you can do. Bring it with you to the gig in case you need to reapply.

Clean that wound before you seal it.

Avoid bar chords. Play them as 5ths with the finger tips. I've been where you are now, sucks.

Break out the beer bottle and play slide?

Sorry -- that sucks. I've tried super glue -- it didn't work for me.

Put a bit of tape or thin clean cloth over the cut before the super glue, it’ll help to keep it from opening up.

Lots of superglue. Has worked many times for me.

Django only had two fingers on his fretting hand and he was an OK player -- just play some of his tunes.

;^)

Sorry -- I know this doesn't help. Just trying to slip in a little humor.

Django still had the use of his index and middle.
wonder how he'd have fared using only his ring and pinky...

^^ I dunno -- maybe if he had superglue back then??

Sorry -- I'm not trying to diminish your problem -- just crackin' wise.

"why didn't the glue work for you?"

I don't know -- I guess I'm just a bleeder. Or I just didn't do it right.

Regardless, I don't play out for a living so I have the luxury of just sitting out. I do a lot of woodworking and cooking so most of my mangling has come from there. I can wrap up a finger in gauze and bandaids and still be able to use a chefs knife or lathe tools. Not so much with a guitar neck.

Again -- I hope you find something to get through this.

Medical Grade, doesn't help you in your immediate need though.

If you can get the wound dry, the stuff CA glue, works pretty good.

The joint is a tough one because it's always moving. Good luck man.
