So yesterday while I was hiking somebody hacked into my PayPal account and bought an item on Ebay for more than $300!

When I got home I had phone messages and emails from PayPal saying they locked my account until I go in and change my password.

I went thru their computer robot voice resolution process and got an email back with a tracking number, etc. They say they will get back to me within 9 days. Meanwhile that charge is sitting on my VISA!

I hope they catch the SOB! (and get that charge reversed)

Right Visa won’t screw around. They will refund your account temporarily until their investigation is complete , then permanently refund it. They probably will cancel your card and give you a new one.

I changed/upgraded my password recently because I hadn't done so in awhile. I've been fortunate I guess in as much as I've never had a problem.

Not a bad ides to change passwords regularly and go alpha-numeric using upper and lower case + throw in a few symbols and punctuation marks. Just makes it a bit harder to crack.

You can recycle easy passwords that are already in your memory cells but insecure into a strong passwords by simply putting them into parentheses and using caps and a number

Like (Lame)(Simple1)

add a symbol between them for an added boost

(Lame)%(Simple1)

Recently, and I DO NOT do business with PayPal... learned my lesson long ago.

This time I called and they said that my wait time was 53-120 minutes.
Right.

I called the credit card company and they will handle it. The Credit Card company said they do not like doing business with, or calling, Pay Pal.

Good Luck

I have recently received a couple of bogus emails supposedly from PayPal indicating merchandise was charged to my account. I NEVER click the links in such messages but instead sign in to PayPal in a browser window. Neither have been legit and nothing fraudulent has been charged to my account.

I wonder if I should forward them to PayPal.

My Paypal balance was zero too. My problem is I have my VISA card tied to the Paypal to pay for stuff.

I got a quick response from Paypal last nite saying they determined the transaction was fraud and they have credited my account. So that only took 2 days which I think is pretty quick. Then again the evidence trail is overwhelming.

So today I saw my PayPal refund show up on my VISA so all is well again.

It looks like 1.6 million users have potentially had their info stolen, see the article below.

I have gone into my PayPal account and removed my credit card. I can always add in back if and when I need to use PayPal to buy something again.

I am in the PAY Pal/CITI BANK Vortex at the moment.

I refuse to do business with PAY PAl.. but a seller said I would be paying with a credit card.. ok.. so the bill shows up.. problems..
Then Citi Bank screws it up and neither will accept responsibility.

Both are like UPS when they do it right ,, ok, when they do it wrong they are the worst.

If the Citi Bank Card wasn't a Costco Card I would dump them solely on attitude and being adversarial to a customer/client.

Pay Pal 1 to 2 hrs to answer your call.
I do not do business with arms length companies.

I am calling Costco (for the second time in two years) to let them know my opinion of Citi Bank.

I've had zero problems with my Costco Citi card. Zero problems with PayPal and I've been using PayPal since it started buying and selling. I had fraud on a BOA Visa and they took care of it immediately. Overall, my experience with credit cards in general has been excellent. Visa, Amex, Discover, all of them.

I invite you to call Pay Pal and see what their recorded message says about "wait time" .
