FDP Forum / Miscellaneous and Non-Fender Topics / Pelham Blue SG Custom in Buffalo on Gibson truck years ago

Anyone remember several (many?) years ago the Gibson demonstrator truck making the rounds. They came to Buffalo and parked in McKinley circle. They had a few guitars there but I remember specifically a pelham blue SG Custom, 3 pickups. They had Line 6 pods to play through when those were still a relatively new thing. That SG played like a dream.

Never forgot that guitar, I'd never seen one in pelham blue like that; but since then I have never seen any on the market. I wonder if it was a one-off. I see a lot of the 2 pickup ones lately, but never another 3 pickup.

I've never seen a Custom in Pelham Blue. A friend of mine has a 60s Pelham 2 pickup SG. Until I saw it a few years ago, I didn't know the color existed.

I remember the truck. I've seen it a couple of times. Once at a Harley/Roadster show at the LA fairgrounds.

I think every guitar player has at least one story about "the one that got away" before they could land it.

I've never played a three-pickup SG. It barely has enough wood in it for two pickups :o)

Lol Peegoo you got a good point! A friend of mine had a 63 or so SG Custom and now that I think about it, it was quite bendy. Pull-the-neck-back-vibrato bendy. But still, if I did happen to come across this one the 'gas' would kick in again, I'm sure....

Hey Peegoo,

Remind me to bring my Epi G400 custom that has arisen from the dead to spring Clamfest, so you can play a 3 pickup SG.
