This seems a likely thing for me, next week, assuming xrays confirm the Dx enough. Anybody undergo this kind of fun before?

I had it done (cortisone) to a painful shoulder a few years back. Relieved the discomfort almost instantly but the pain returned with a vengeance after a few days.

Turned out that the problem was caused by bone spurs. Had them ground out and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

OK thanks, glad it worked out.

MD says for the hip the opportunities to correct things with an arthroscope are limited, I think the idea here is both as a diagnostic and a treatment.

Three months ago... that's how they schedule them.

It worked great for a while but eventually wore off, which is fine because it made the decision to get the other hip replaced that much easier.

I've had them for elbow issues. Nothing at all pretty about getting a needle into your bone...NOTHING.

I've had them in my neck, back and knees. The shots have never helped me. Next week I get another shot in my back but I really think it won't work, again.

Several people saying they are happy with their joint replacement are urging for me to get a replacement. I imagine this is a bit premature.

Anxious to get this shot and see how well it will work.

Just got the shot. Feels good, but that's the Novocain, will wear off then the cortisone should kick in after a few days.

Before/after range testing confirms the Dx pretty much.

My recent shot did nothing.

Hip replacement is a difficult thing to accept, but in reality very easy and totally worth it.

I just had my Right Hip replaced about a month ago. I did cortisone shots every 6-9 months for almost 4 years, the last year before surgery nothing worked.

They will only do so many cortisone shots in a joint, 5-6 tops. It can be very helpful in the short term for inflammation but ultimately deteriorates the joint even further.

I am still recovering from my surgery but as Pinetree says.........."I should have done this years ago!"

I asked the doctor today what I should think about those who say "I should have done this years ago", with some idea towards the idea that I should be insistent about getting it replaced and for me the answer was "cart before the horse". For now I accept that as we are just starting out.

They want to do this for me. In both knees and hips and left ankle. The bastages who wright laws have made my Dr stop treating chronic pain. So now I have to suffer and hope this crap works. If it doesn't work, like when they tried it 18 years ago, what will they do?

Hell I can always find heroin.
