I sort of know which way I'm leaning.
I would like to hear opinions/reviews, hopefully from those who have owned snd/or played both.

They are very different guitars. I chose the Baja Tele myself because I like modern specs when it comes to fretboard radius and fret size.

I favor the traditional 7.25" radius and small vintage fret wire so I'd go with the 50's Roadworn.

Bajas are nice, and if you prefer the modern radius and larger frets, go with that model.

Me, I'm a traditionalist so the Baja would not be my choice.

The 'realfrogman' has one for sale and is the owner of both. He is selling his Baja Tele and makes the statement that the Road Worn Tele is getting most of his playing time.
So, I would probably ask him for an opinion on both.
Check the FDP Classifieds for the listing, but I would solicit his feedback as to why and if after talking with him and the Baja Tele still sounds like something you are interested in, he has a good price tag for the sale.

Road worn has a V near identical to the baja.

Edited to say that in a side by side feel the road worn is closer to the U profile on my thinline. All of the sellers that I find are specing it as U.

I just realized that the MIM 50's Roadworn Telecaster frets are not the same as on the MIM Classic Series 50's Telecaster. I always assumed these two MIM models were identical as to neck specifications.

The Classic 50's model has the vintage-style frets, whereas the Roadworn 50s's has 6105 wire. That is quite a bump in size between the two models!

The Baja fret size probably fits right between the Roadworn 50's and the Classic Series 50's. Nice to have all these options.

I think the tall frets on the RW make you forget you are playing a 7 1/4 radius. For me it is a work out of the hands, that is okay because it makes my hand stronger. The tone of those tex mex pups is outstanding!

I will get a classic one of these days and I want the nitro one. I really dig these MIM guitars! Hats off to the folks in Ensenada.

The neck on my Baja is huge. Not sure if they are all like this, but you might want to check it out first if you wouldn't like it. Advertised as a V neck; no V on mine, just baseball bat.

I ordered a Baja several years back...sounded great, played well, and was made quite well. It inspired me to put some work into my late '90s American Tele to get it to play and sound like the Baja. The reason I did that was because the neck on the Baja was extremely large for me. Perhaps I would have gotten used to it over time (sent it back). But it was not a good fit for me. So, yes...the '50s Baja has a very large neck and it is best to be sure that suits your playing style and taste.

Now that we've mentioned it, I think I'll put an ad in the Classifieds and see if someone has a slimmer neck they would like to trade.

Huge fan of V-necks and flatter radiuses here, but that's personal preference.

Friend of mine has a Road Worn Tele which has a soft V to C. I'm not a fan of V's but that one is OK, I just thought it worth mentioning that not all Road Worns are all-C.
