Don't know if it's just me or my Guitar, but Ernie Ball 80/20 earthwoods still sound the best on my Acoustic.

EJ16’s on everything unless you are a bluegrasser. Bluegrass guys like 13’s (EJ17’s) for the little bit of extra volume. They also don’t bend strings much, if at all.

I have three sets of those strings, Doc, but I have yet to give them a go. Maybe next string change.

Thanks for the discussion everyone. Gets me thinking to try some different strings again. Ordered some EJ 16s and Martin SPs, going to give them a try next and see if they can out preform my EB earthwoods. I think the SP's i ordered are 80/20 and the EJs are phosphor bronze.

I'll throw Cleartones into the mix. LOVE their bass strings, so I tried a set of the 80/20 bronze 13-56 acoustics on my Epi EJ-160. Kept coming back to them, tried most of the above.

As long as I can remember, I've used D'Addario 13-56 Phosphorus Bronze. They don't last any longer in Hawaii than any other but it's what I know best.

On My one classical guitar, I put La Bella Medium tension strings, they don't list gauges.

I do not care for Elixer bass strings or poly web coated Elixers but the other night I played 2 of his acoustics with Elixer Phosphor Bronze nano coated string and loved the tone feel and playability of them. With that I put a set on my moms Takimine F-349 1979 Acoustic that was given to me after she passed away in 2005. It sound better than ever before and I have a set to put on my other acoustic .

I still use Gryphon's Light Gauge PB strings.

D'Addario makes them for Gryphon and puts some kind of brighter looking coating on them.
