I can't swing the vintage and unknown condition so a modern could work. Need to sell my original '61 Browny Concert and my Clay Hullett '59 Bassman conversion (PTP chassis, selectable speaker combo with watts to match. They have always been too much for me. There' there's a minty '65 DRRI (1997) that doesn't get my play. My old tweed Pro Jr from long ago and my '59 Harmony 305 does the duty these days.

Can anybody hep me? Find buyers for what I like to sell and find a builder who gets the '54 5c4 circuit.

Nice guy too, he's down here in Pompano. Built me a 1x15" BF Vibroverb with a brown circuit tremolo.

Ah, sorry - that's a 5F4. Give him a holla though, bet he could hook you up.

I know the tweed Deluxe is a grail because so many of our guitar heroes use them but I always like the older Super better. I figured I'd have an answer by now but I don't see any of the clone builders offering this amp.

Not sure why I even care as I'm playing acoustic retty much exclusively these days. Maybe just a fantasy of getting rid of much of my electric gear and having less stuff.

Adam Palow (Tungsten Amplification) made my 5E5-A narrow panel Pro. He's an excellent builder.

Yeah it's a tough one to find. I don't think anyone offers it either. The 5D4 even though built for 3 years ('53-'55) it's not as accepted as a tone monster as the 5F4 with separate bass & treble controls and the addition of presence.

I could be done however me thinks. The closest chassis to the 5D4 is a tweed Deluxe. The controls are correct however a third preamp tube socket hole would need to be punched in the chassis. A custom eyelet board would need to be built and all the components ordered separately. Someone like JD Newell could custom build a 2-10 wide tweed cab for it. This would be expensive in all.

I'd have a 5F4 narrow panel amp commissioned. They have a bit more clean headroom and they are easy to find. I do these and LP tweed Twins all the time. Mojotone really has the nicest (and most authentic) kit out there. I like to use Mallory caps instead of the Orange drops provided for a more authentic look but the kit is top notch. Order it without speakers, find a pair of vintage P10R Jensens and you are good to go. Mojotone sells their assembled kit for $1300. $930 for a box of parts. That's a pretty good deal actually.

I've been considering a 5F4 or 5E5 build, myself, and was looking at the Mojotone kits.

I built a Mission 5E3 and love it, but Mission doesn't offer those other designs, at least not as stock items. As mentioned above, Mojotone, Marsh, and a few others do.

I haven't seen a 5D4 listed anywhere as a stock offering, kit or otherwise.

The Marsh kits are Mojotone. If you order a basic kit it will be drop-shipped from Mojo.

Mike Marsh does put some kits together that Mojo doesn't offer like a 6L6 powered 5E3. Best to check both sources and see who has the best price on any given day.

Having seen and assembled many of these kits I can tell you they are 1st class. With the Tweed kits I like to upgrade the cabinet to lacquered tweed and as I mentioned above change the tone and coupling caps.

My Victoria Super (bought it from FDP'er RKSTRAT) has migrated to the top of my list from the 35 amps I own. It's pretty dang close to the perfect amp.

The 5C4 would be even more difficult as the early one had the octal preamp tubes. I overhauled a Pro of this vintage a while back. Finding tubes was doable but expensive for the owner of the amp. The Pro and the Super shared the same chassis but had different cabs and speaker configurations, single 15 vs 2-10.

If Chris could find an old bare chassis it could be done. To much cost in making a one off chassis at a sheet metal shop.

I’m wonder if finding an original might be easier. Even if it needed some work.
