New Cheap Pedal Day!

Donner 'Boost Killer' (RC Boost clone)

Arrived at the doorstep today and had completely forgot I ordered it! Didn't know what it was until I opened it. Surprise!!

Only spent about 15 minutes with it so far, but works as advertised and sounds great. Very quiet.
For 38 Aussie bucks, and given the positive reviews I'd read, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

If anyone is looking for a good cheap clean boost, get one. Can't speak for durability yet but can't imagine it wouldn't hold up. (I'm not a real "stomper")

Nice!

I have a Donner Blues Crab I bought from a dude here. I like it for what it is. I'm redoing my pedalboard and I'll see if it has a home there.

I bought a used Ernie Ball Jr volume pedal cheap last week. $58 and looks like new! Very simple design. I like the "Tuner Out" feature as it take the tuner totally out of the signal chain. (One less thing, right?) Very smooth, predictable volume swells.

Leftee, do you mean the Donner Blues Drive, or the Mooer Blues Crab?

I think the Blues Crab is a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone and the Blues Drive* is a Boss BD-2 clone (*some say TS-9, but with the additional toggle for 'Hot' & 'Warm', I'm thinking BD-2)

Sorry, being pedantic... :^(

If the other Donner clones are as good as this one, I'd consider getting more for that kind of money.

If the Donners had more Mooers with them, perhaps they wouldn't have eaten each other.

S'okay. If you don't get the joke, you get a pass.

GET it? Donner PASS?

It was no party.

I love a cheap pedal! Last month I scored an early version Crunchbox in great shape for a whopping $20 off craigslist.

"Pedal Whore" - You know, that would not be a bad name for a pedal!

"Heeeey...

Allegedly, (cuz *everything* on the interwebs is true) the Donners are rebranded Mooers for 1/3 of the price.

Mooer pedals were 30 bucks when they first came out, but all the raving by "pedal-hoors" on forums drove the prices up!

Nice, I've never used a boost pedal before but now seem to be gassing for one.. :-D

I have a Donner tuner and the "Morpher" distortion pedal (suhr riot clone) and have been happy with both. The morpher is a great lead pedal that's very compact on the pedal board.

I had a Boost Killer for awhile and it worked great - gave a nice little kick without sounding too crazy. Then it died, after about a year. No reason that I could discern - it just stopped working. To replace it, I got an Outlaw Effects Boilermaker, which I like equally well. It's very similar to the BK - who knows, these clones might actually be identical inside - and so far no complaints.

"I had a Boost Killer..." "Then it died, after about a year."

Yeah, having only just received it, I can't comment on longevity/durability.
Touch wood, I've never had any pedal completely fail on me. Even the cheap Chinese ones.

The Outlaw Effects cost around 80-90 bucks here depending on model & retailer.
