This may have been covered before. Watched him on AXTV the other day: Maple neck, truss rod slot/screw visible, no skunk stripe?

Looks like it was a maple cap instead of rosewood. I took this photo of his Woodstock Strat, and can clearly see the maple cap.

Jimi trade that Strat to Mitch Mitchell for a drum kit for Electric Lady Studios. It was sold later for a large amount.

Without accessing it from the back, hence the skunk stripe, no way to install the truss rod.

Once you understand how truss rods are installed, it all makes sense: the hole for the truss rod is not drilled.

It's a channel that's routed into the neck.

The rod is dropped into the channel, and the rout is filled with a strip of walnut (skunk stripe for a rear rout) or capped with a rosewood or maple fingerboard (front rout).

I seem to recall that Fender's Hendrix Voodoo Strats from the 90's have maple cap fretboards.
