Too soon to call this one. Right now it is a numbered tropical depression.

Yes it is, but their is nothing going on that would indicate it could dis-organize.

I took down the plywood from my windows about a week ago. Put it up for Irma, kept it up for Maria just in case she took a turn this way, and I still have it stacked near the front door. I've got it sitting there just in case this takes a turn for the worse. I really hope it doesn't.

Until last year when we had some close brushes with Matthew and whats his name, I've really loved October in Fla. Right on queue we've had some cooler and pleasant evenings starting a few days ago. Don't harsh my mellow, #16.

we have had a house in Ft Lauderdale since 2010. Up until last year, Florida went 10 or 11 years without a landfall hurricane. That was way out of the norms, but we were lucking out.

I look at weather trends over a 20 year span. Fla was due for a batch to give the average back into the normal range. All these storms bring us back to still less than normal.

The Cone of Uncertainty has shifted well to the west, it's center being the mouth of the Mississippi River. It is now called Nate.

New Orleans is now forecast in the direct hit zone. Nate also has a lot of open water to cover before landfall with Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula being the only potential blockers to a monster. Not a good thing on any level.

Florida is looking less likely as a major hit.

It appears to maybe not be that powerful, as forecast? There is always uncertainty with these things, both with the tracking cone and the power.

They're getting better at it. The computer models are tighter than they used to be.

I used NOAA and Weather Underground, forget the broadcast media, brought to you by Home Depot.

The NOAA hurricane site is a great resource. Kinda 'just the facts ma'am.'

A little time on it to sort out the screens and symbols and you'll be in business. Most of the reliable info is generated through this National Hurricane Center

Give it a try

The Weather Underground still publishes the computer models, for some reason NOAA does not, They discuss them but offer no graphics.
