I've had a Crunchbox for a few years and have recently put it back on my pedalboard. Don't use it much though as I also have a Bogner ecstasy blue pedal that I mainly use for plexi sounds.

DrKev, as you stated, there are a bunch of different versions.

FYI, this seems to be the most recent version if you are shopping for a new one.

Yeah, I saw that, thanks pombrio. Seems there are three versions of the 1st one.

If you're looking for a budget version , Mooer do a "Cruncher" for £54. There's one on eBay now for £24

You could of course just scour the bay for a 80's Guv'nor.

Plenty of them were sold.

Coincidentally Johan Segeborn covered the Guv a few days ago :

The Guv'nor is a fine pedal. But it's big.

DrKev wants something smallish and light in weight for his pedal board.

Why do you want it?

A one hour history of Marshall.

Play it loud.

See 1st post, and I'm not buying a new amp. I don't want a big Guv'nor because I already have a big Daddy-O. Must be smaller than either.

I LOVE Johan Segeborn's channel. It's not that I'm big classic marhsall fan, but it's the whole...

Hi. Today, we are going to play 3 different guitars into 25 different marshall amp heads, all cranked all the way up, into one cabinet so we can hear the difference between the models, if any. Ok? Here we go.
[swedish accent off]

Cue 25 minutes of ear-protector-required riffage. It's effing glorious, or reeeeeeeaaaaaly boring depending on your mood and his tuning.

But that''s why I love it.

+1 Crunchbox.
Simple & effective: Vol, Tone, Gain.

Another Marshall-in-a-box option is the Xotic SL Drive.
If pedalboard real estate is one of the issue, the SL Drive is micro pedal size.

I've owned both the Super Crunch Box and the SL Drive. They were both very good, I just eventually arrived at the conclusion that I'm not a Marshall guy.

If you're looking used, I would suggest the Digitech Hardwire SC-2 Valve Distortion. Does great Marshall-ish tones from low to higher gain and the separate Low and High EQ knobs are great. For $40 used, it has seen more time on my pedalboard than the usual big names (Fulltone, Wampler, etc).

We have the Exotic SP Compressor on our church's pedalboard. It's surprisingly good.
