Yup, an evil mind and then maybe take away the anxiety and inhibition.

IMO these drugs can easily take a bad thing to a much worse place for the rest of us.

From what I have read, the guy was super logical and methodical and did not show much emotion. He liked to gamble a LOT and used spreadsheets and charts to plan his gambling. He did not treat his girlfriend that well in public. But he cared enough about her to save her life. I think he was mainly a nerd type that did not have empathy or sympathy for people. Sort of soulless.

Regarding his gambling ... I'll toss this into the mix for you guys and don't ask me how I know this.

The guy had lost (in his gambling career at one major Casino on the strip) over ten million dollars and was not in debt to the Casino on account of it.

We all have this evil in us. Just to varying degrees.

So yes, I am not discounting evil. It is the core of this whole thing.

I've shot an AR-15 with a bump fire stock. With a little practice you can get it to run an entire magazine in just a few seconds. The bump fire stock is really just a novelty and not very useful other than just burning up a lot of ammo in a short time. You really can't aim with it but if you just want to spray a lot of bullets into a general area it works well for that.

I bet they will try to outlaw them and I can see the logic. If fully automatic fire arms are highly restricted and controlled why would a device that makes a semi-auto operate in a similar fashion be completely unrestricted?

I don't agree with outlawing them because I've seen people do the same thing with a pencil or a stick. People will still be able to get them on the black market or make their own.

There was a quote from a gun dealer in the paper today that said he usually sells two of those stocks per year, but there has been such a run on them since the shooting and the publicity they have gotten that all of the wholesalers are sold out of them.

"I don't agree with outlawing them because I've seen people do the same thing with a pencil or a stick. People will still be able to get them on the black market or make their own. "

Those who want to do it will always find a way, I would imagine. But, I'm not sure that means it should be made easy for them.

...back to the drug use...at this point, I think it's hard to say if it had any affect on him or not...more needs to be known about the guy..

that being said, if its true, it's one of the reason why the dinner time drug commercials have a lengthy disclaimer about all of the potential side effects...and it seems the list keeps getting longer...

I imagine when all is said and done there will be massive law suits against the hotel.(if it hasn't already happened)

Then there is the black market, like this bozo who got caught in TN with real automatic weapons. Banning things never works.

"Graybeal asked the ATF to help investigate the source of the automatic weapons, which weren't registered and lack serial numbers."

I've shared this before, concerning antidepressants. I had a mentor/friend/co-worker take a dastardly turn after being put on some med, not sure which one(s). Steve was a gentle soul, even tempered, great guy. He got put into a high anxiety situation, sought help, got drugs. Developed a facial tick, first sign.

It ended with him stabbing himself in the stomach multiple times, and when that didn't work he cut his own throat.

He didn't kill anyone else, but to know the guy and to think of the violent way he ended himself is just mind boggling.

That's not to say there's an excuse out there for the Vegas guy. Personally I think it's a futile move to study the anatomy (physically and forensically) of a monster. Just put them down and save the world further grief.

For your consideration.

The mental patient liberation movement emphatically opposes involuntary treatment but generally does not have any issue with any psychiatric treatments that are consensual, provided that both parties are free to withdraw consent at any time.

I guess that, in the bigger picture, we’re really just analyzing evil here. Trying to fine tune the situation.

But it’s still evil.

I've been thinking about the lawsuit against the casino hotel for a bit and then I read it here. It may be big enough to close the place. No one can prepare nor block such a situation if you don't know about it.

What this incident will do is take all the free wheeling, and simple fun out of Vegas for a while. Everyone will have enhanced security, detectors etc. to the point of no one wanting to go.

I honestly don't see any viable legal theory against the hotel, but that doesn't mean they won't get sued and they won't settle.

I agree but only to a point. The hardcore Vegas people and gambling junkies (could be the same person) are still going to want to go and will still go. I'm betting that guys who pump thousands upon thousands into casinos will continue to do so.

I'm so sick of the bloodsucking press. What they're pumping out is exactly the type of non-stop notoriety that this sick, homicidal excuse for a human being (and any other, like-minded defectives who might be inspired to emulate his behavior) would probably want. Every sordid detail is endlessly reviewed. Anyone who is directly involved is tracked down, put on camera and has their traumatized emotions milked. No salacious micron is too small to wallow in.

Better this creep's name should never again be uttered and that he should be summarily relegated to the oblivion his cowardly act should earn him.

Infamous...

The sad result from this is more lonely depressed phycho's are going to see doing a thing like this, as their ticket to 15 min of fame.

The result for the rest of us is going to be more restrictions on our lives.

I've heard reports some hotels in Las Vegas are searching guests bags.

I wonder how that leaves people with CCW. Will they be turned away from the hotels?

A sad sad period in our history.
