I can't comment on Hef's character cause I didn't know the man.

The Magazine was a class act. It was more nude art then pron, like other rags.

The articles were very well done.

RIP

“But this isn't a good place to stick a rat in the sink, know what I mean?”

I’m going to need to know what place IS good to stick a rat in the sink. Can I get an answer here or does that warrant it’s own thread?

Well, I was gonna say, rat in a drain ditch but how many of you would have gotten the Dead reference?

Sometimes we forget just how San Francisco you are ; >

Edited to add smiley, as I have learned (on another forum) just how easy and often it is for a jest to be received as an insult, or a challenge. While some of that can be due to the nature of the recipient, it is also true that I sometimes forget that those I am conversing with online do not really know me, and that their assumptions about who I am, and thus what I'm really saying, can be very different than my own. Across the globe is cool but it does not replace across the room.

Here is my Hef comment: I never saw a Playboy and what I know about the guy is mansion, girls, pajamas.

Pretty good for never turning a page, huh

Internet forum (or phone) text lacks adequate expression that would, if spoken out loud, add clarity to the meaning of your words.

Smileys are the best we have so maybe they should be used more often. ( 8^(I)

"Also, more bad puns about Hef's life"

I think he deserves a bit more respect than that.

RIP Hef -- thanks for the mammaries.

Hi neilp - going to take a contrary opinion to your comment about folks around here not wanting contrary opinions: :)

I love discussing things with folks who hold a different viewpoint - it's often how I learn things. I may not agree with them or like what they say, but intelligent people can agreeably disagree. I think that "agreement to disagree" is a big part of what's missing these days.

So please post away...

Like most of the rest of you, I always winced, closed my eyes tightly, shook my head and clucked my tongue as I thumbed quickly past the pictures of scantily-clad harlots to get to the thought-provoking articles...

the truth has been spoken!

having a contrary opinion on a topic is ok..as long as it can be civil

heck if we all agreed on everything then it would all be Rosewood and Maryann..

or is that Maple and Ginger?...

Has anyone mentioned that Hef will be laid to rest next to 1952 Playboy "Sweetheart of the month" Marilyn Monroe? He bought the crypt next to hers in 1992 for $75K.

This will go down as one of those times that I had a snappy, completely gross response that I self-edited to stay within the FDP standards of decency. I'm proud of myself that I didn't just let it fly and get the thread DOB'ed.

"I think that "agreement to disagree" is a big part of what's missing these days."

Sadly, this is all too true.

Tolerance - and acceptance - of differing opinions and feelings does NOT indicate weakness, as many people seem to believe, these days.

It's good to have a moderator draw the line we can all respect.

Something that's absent on Facebook - just check out all the "dialogue" about Kapernick et al.
