I bought a used Ibanez AF95 recently and it's a very nice import jazz box.

However, I have no experience with movable bridges. Where are you supposed to place a movable bridge? Does it matter?

Also, are these type of bridges common to jazz box guitars?

Well, the bridge has to be placed so the guitar will intonate correctly. But the AF95 also has movable Tune-O-Matic-style saddles, if I am not mistaken.

In that case, put the A and B saddles about in the middle of their travel and place the bridge so that those two string intonate reasonably closely. Then adjust all the saddles to get the intonation right on for each string.

Thanks Te 52. The AF95 does have a Tune-O-Matic style bridge and saddles that are affixed to a wood bridge piece that is movable.

Another Q: Other than gluing it in place, is there anyway to keep the bridge from moving so easily?

See Peegoo's numerous threads on "pinning the bridge" for wooden floating bridges. He gives a brilliant primer for bridge pinning and you should know, even if you prefer not to do the work yourself. I'd search for you but I gotta go to work!

I placed mine based on pictures on their site, futzed it around a bit, intonated it, marked it with a pencil, then loosened the strings and put small pieces of double sided Scotch tape on the bottom of the bridge and put it where i marked it. Double checeked the intonation. Not very scientific, but it intonated perfectly and stayed put.

Thanks gang! I like the Dolemite solution because it's something I could actually do myself. (:oD
