I am on a quest...just not sure where!

Bought the kit over a year ago, finally got around to assembling it last week. This pedal is Monte's take on the Rat pedal. Going split this review into two segments - Build and Sound.
Build - The kit comes complete with unfinished housing, PCB, knobs, switches, caps, resistors, wiring, etc. The instructions are sent electronically. Once printed they read easy and have excellent step by step procedures. Monte lets you know if there are updates that require different components. One thing I recommend - use a multimeter to verify the values of the caps, resistors. This will keep you from installing one in the wrong spot - no I didn't install any in the wrong spot. Assembly time takes a couple of hours at a steady pace - I did it over the course of an afternoon and early evening (taking breaks to play with grandkid). I had one issue after assembly that required communicating with Monte - appeared the original LM308N opamp was defective. Once I explained to Monte the issue, he sent one a no charge to make sure that was the problem - it was and I have to say major hats off to him for that kind of service.

SOUND - Well this pedal is everything I had hoped it would be. It works like a Rat in that the EQ section dials out the highs as you turn it to the right. Sort of counter intuitive to what we normally think of in tone controls. There is a three-way switch that gives you FAT, BOOST and FINE modes of Overdrive. I have found that the pedal gives a really nice OD tone in the FAT mode and is my personal favorite. The FINE is more granular and screams "Rock me baby!" The pedal is amazingly quiet and I have to say it plays well with everything I put in its pathway. I have a CMATSMODs Signa Drive that I use with it and they play really well off each other - not matter whose 1st or 2nd. Also I've used this with both tube and SS amps with equal success.

Overall - this pedal is worth the build and I plan on using it for a long, long time.
