I've been working on this style, I found a thumb pick a bit longer than most of them, it still gets hung up once in awhile. With practice It'll be OK.

I've played the six string with the thumb and three, occasionally four fingers since I partially paralyzed my right arm back in 1978. Strumming for me doesn't come from my elbow, that Bicep is gone as well as some of the shoulder muscles. I use the wrist and a flamingo style of strumming. It's lame, I pretty much only play bass in public unless there's a campfire "o)

There used to be a guy named Chet that did pretty well with a thumbtack............
