Earlier this summer I bought a nearly new Squier Strat that apparently was sold in the Asian market. I paid only $25. It came with a very nice triple-ply pearl white pickguard which is probably worth $25 all by itself. The fret ends were like box-cutters! I did my first fret-end job ever and now the neck is playable, maybe even better than the MIM fat strat I had in the past. So now it's on to improving the tone (yes, I am getting the virus!). I have some gift cards to Amazon.com and could afford to put maybe $100 into a loaded pick-guard. One thing I know I want to do, if I have to mod, is add a tail-pickup on switch - love the neck + bridge sound, as well as make sure I can control the tone of the bridge pup at all times. I tried the 'tone blender' mod with the existing pups, and apparently the pots are the wrong type because effective tone control is really only present in about 20% of the range. It has crummy import 5 position switch, wimpy wiring, etc. So I'm looking for recommendations, probably sticking with all SC pups as my Epiphone Nighthawk Custom Reissue has tappable HBs in neck and slanted tail, with 5 position switch, I added tail pup. Looks like 920D customs has some decently priced loaded pickguards. Any endorsements here in that price range.

Relics produce tone, and then some...

I am not familiar with the tone blender setup, I mean I know about them but have never had one. However, my skill level is not in the group of musicians that a blender would help any.

Tone to the bridge is a piece of cake, jump one wire on the switch and it works. Dunno about those little alpha pots that most likely are on that pick guard yours but the squire I had with them sucked. I have had 920D assemblies and they are done right however you want them. I prefer building my own these days because all the tech data is available and if I take my time I end up with something good.

Amazon has quite a selection if you are shopping there. I could have every high dollar gizmo available and still sound like crap. If there was one thing I could choose it would be more Cowbell ;)

Where are you located? If you're in a big metropolitan area, you may be able to find a complete pickguard assembly on Craigslist for much less than $100.

Bridge + Neck: If you are willing to sacrifice either the 2 or 4 position, you can get the B+N without adding any switches.

Don’t want to sacrifice 2 and 4. Want overall tone and switchable N+B. I’m not opposed tonsoldering up the whole thing if I can do it cheaper than 920D.

I think I’m actually going to buy a wired super strat pickguard and set of lil killers frI’m guitar fetish. Seems like that’s what this Squier is wanting to go towards.

Look on ebay for a assembly off a strat maybe even with the pups you want.
