I thought about the "weather event" but the order in August was before that. I also forgot that my wife had an order in August before the event with similar issues. It was broke down to three shipments which I understand if they are coming from 3rd party suppliers. it was four days from confirmation to shipment notification. Once shipped, all three were delayed from original schedule. One was supposedly "out for delivery" and then it said turned over to USPS and arrived two days later.

I'm a Prime subscriber and haven't noticed a delay. Were you ordering directly from Amazon, something Fulfilled by Amazon or something from a partner?

"something from a partner" = shipped quickly

"directly from Amazon" = slow boats from China can do laps around Amazon's shipping

--and this is way before any hurricanes. Every since they introduced Prime, shipping has gotten slower, and it's gotten to the point I don't really order from them any more.

I have the opposite problem.....using Prime, I am finding I get free one-day shipping, sometimes free two-day. I feel guilty.

I am not a 'Prime' Member but have successfully ordered many times from Amazon before. On 9/10 I ordered (3) items from Amazon that were to be fulfilled by (3) different vendors. Today I got my package and (1) of the items was not included. There was no notification that the items would be shipped separately and the 'track your package' option on the website showed that all the items had been delivered. I have looked on the Amazon website for the ability to contact and inquire with no success with the exception of sending an e-mail to the vendor in 'question'.
Any of you have similar experiences..??

Yup regular shipping has been horrific. Just took 2 weeks to get an order, by the time it arrived I forgot what I ordered.

I needed to buy something and get it quick, and signing up for another month of prime was cheaper than two day shipping for that order, so I'm back in the club for another month.

As a Prime member (more for the TV app than 2 day delivery), I'm extremely impressed with Prime shipping. It often gets here earlier than expected and I'm out in the boonies. With 3rd party vendors, unless they ship Prime, that's another story but hardly Amazon's fault. Prime is so worth it for TV and Music alone but add in the Library app and 2 day shipping, it's a heckuva deal compared to, say, one month's cable or satellite bill.

This may be the time I finally explore some of that stuff as opposed to just using the free shipping for a month. I’d like to find a justification for signing up permanently.

I don't order enough to justify it.

When I order from Amazon now, I *always* buy from a private seller as "fulfilled by" stuff takes 10 days+ for us plebians.

To me, it would be a major waste of money if they didn't offer the video. That, for me anyway, is worth the price of admission in and of itself. The music, books, and 2-day delivery on Prime listed stuff is a bonus.

now I find the cheap amazon branded stuff like cables only ship when you order $25 of other stuff and they piggy back on that order. They are up front about it. If you want the cheapo stuff you have to order more or pay a lot more for freight.

I needed HDMI-DVI cables and adapters. The amazon were 1/3 the price of others but would not ship alone so I have to get other stuff to get the value over $25

so yeah I kinda get the other stuff for free and they are upfront about it but if I only wanted cables and they were $1000 worth they would not ship without non amazon branded stuff worth $25. If you pay for shipping the cheapo stuff the freight is a lot more than normal

Years ago if I ordered something it was filled that day or the next at the latest.

Now it has taken up to 5 days before it's shipped.

I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon. Prime is a no-brainer for me. I depends on the warehouse it ships out of as to how fast I get stuff. It also depends heavily on the day of the week. Sometimes, I can order Friday and it's on my doorstep Sunday. Stuff ordered on Saturday is usually not going anywhere until Monday with a Tuesday receipt. I'd say they are easily 90% effective with the 2-Day Prime where I live. Expecting 100% performance is probably not very realistic because we all know, stuff happens.

I do a lot of shopping on Amazon and have been a Prime member for years, now.
I haven't noticed any added delays in shipping.

A while back, they did change the way they ship - they apparently send shipments to local Post Offices and USPS delivers to your door. Before that, everything came off the brown truck.
Initially, this led to an extra day on the "2 day shipping" but it seems they have accounted for that and those delays are gone.

If all Prime got me was the faster shipping, I probably wouldn't do it - I'm not usually in that big a hurry. But with the audio and video streaming features, it's well worth it, to me.

“To me, it would be a major waste of money if they didn't offer the video.”

Basically why I haven’t signed up full time yet. I should investigate. I wonder if I can get Amazon video on my Smart TV and/or Smart Blu Ray and/or Xbox.

Yes, I grab my Amazon video directly to my smart TV. 4K content, even.

We haven’t ordered a bunch in the past couple weeks but what we have ordered has been right on time. I did expect delays because of weather events and those never happened.

If you bought as much stuff as my wife, Prime would seem like a huge bargain just for free delivery. The TV is a bonus - the total cost of Prime is less than Netflix - and I believe the Amazon music is pretty good too and need to start exploring it. Amazon delivery in the UK seems to be exceptionally good, and I live way out in the wilds near the Scottish border. We get most things next day and recently had a leather messenger bag from Germany, "fulfilled by Amazon" in three days.

I plan on getting Prime eventually but for right now I am waiting for my old (2004) LG DLP television to go through the last bulb and then I will get a TV that will accept streaming. It really still has a great picture but doesn't have any HDMI connections. I'll be looking at COSTCO soon but that's for another thread.
My Amazon order from the 16th, still not shipped.
