Has anyone that owns this compressor tried the much lauded "Monte Allums Opto" Mod?
Is it much of an improvement over a stock CS-3?
Are there any other common mods for this compressor? I quite like it but if there's a significant gain, I would consider it.

I got the Allums mod years ago. I'm not sure I can be very helpful, as I can't remember what it was like before! I thought the mod was worth the price. It definitely made the pedal a lot quieter, though you will still get hiss the more you turn up the sustain control especially. I only use it for one thing, so again maybe not much help to you: I leave it on all the time when I use a telecaster and off for humbuckers or P90s. It's set for a small amount of compression, just to even out rhythm parts, but is mainly intended to match the single coils to the amp when I change guitars - thus a bit of gain on the level, maybe a tiny cut on the tone knob. The knobs stay more or less at 12 o'clock apart from the attack which is at about 4.
