FDP Forum / Guitar Mods, Repairs, and Projects / Original '52 Tele parts - worth much?

Gain is my co-pilot...

Please pardon what seems like a stupid question but unlike whole guitars I've no idea if separate parts have any real worth. Back in the 70's I owned a '52 Telecaster and back then it was no sin to rework or refinish one...so I did. That guitar is long gone but I still have the original PU switch and the original large tone capacitor that I swapped out for newer stuff back then.

Do these have any collector's value? If so, will someone give me a ballpark figure? I can't find any comps on eBay or Reverb. Thanks.

I once sold a vibrato arm and assorted screws from an early 60's Melody Maker for $120.

Throw it up on eBay and see what happens.

Yep. Include detailed, clear, close-up pics and someone will pay you stoopid money for that stuff.

Nicoma Park, OK.

You might be surprised!

A luthier friend of mine found a 50's Stratocaster 3-way switch with the grounding plate he had in his stash of old guitar parts.

He put it up for sale on Ebay and got over $500 for it.

The truth. Of course you could search for 50s Telecaster in guitar parts and see what they are bringing.

About as ordinary as you can get.

Fender used the same knobs, pots and switches in the Tele and some of their steel guitars. I have 2 knobs and a switch from a '53 triple neck Fender Steel. Might be worth a little something. Probably worth more to me than any buyer.
