In the shower, Dollar Shave Club Executive blades and their Shave Butter. A lot of shave creams/gels make me break out, not that one. I also use their Repair Serum after.

Depending on what's going on at work, I usually shave every other day.

"Interesting that a couple of shave before your shower. Your whiskers are more vulnerable to the blade after a shower."

Well, I do wet my face with hot water before I start. The shower then cleans off the remaining shave cream.

I'm wondering how you guys actually shave IN the shower?
Do you use a mirror? If so, doesn't the mirror get all steamed up?

Use a mirror designed to be in the shower. Doesn't steam up (much). Suction cup holds it to the wall. Wipe it off and shave away.

Soapy, I happen to like VdH Deluxe soap even though it's inexpensive. As a glycerin soap, it's quite slick.

Mikey, I've gone through periods of shower shaving, usually with a disposable Bic. I did it by feel and just used standard body soap. Not the best way to shave, I learned.

Every day: whatever the disposable blades my wife gets, and I use Schick Edge Extra Moisturizing Super hydratant. After my whining over the recent "Randall's Signature" 5-blade, I'm asking here to go back to the 3-blade Gillettes. Those consarned 5-bladers are requiring too many strokes to get the job done.

If you do a little online research, you'll find that among cart shavers, there seems to be a consensus that the Gillette Sensor and Sensor Excel (both two blade carts) were the best of anything Gillette has done with cartridges. These three to five blade carts are almost comical and don't work as well. I have an old Sensor Excel handle from the old days but have not bought carts for it for years. However, they are a lot less expensive than all the current multi blade carts.

After shower, brush and soap, disposable razor of some sort. I have a stache and "soul patch" so I have to be in front of a mirror with glasses on so shaving in the shower is out.

I tried shaving in the shower but it was too much trouble. I have my routine and rarely vary. It gets the job done. I look old because I am old. It's not a shame, it's an accomplishment. What really makes me shake my head are guys in their 60's and 70's with dark hair, pony tails, etc., trying to look 40.

News flash! It ain't happening! ;o)

Or maybe they're just being who they always were. I refuse to wear double knit leisurewear just because I'm of a certain age and I damn well won't be mixing plaids and stripes wearing Sansabelt trousers and New Balance sneaks!

We had a dress code in my high school and other than the mileage, I dress pretty much the same and wear my hair about the same. I got rid of long hair by the early 80's and have been clean shaven (save for the three decades I tried to grow a Magnum) my whole life.

Point being, I'm who I've always been and I don't begrudge other geezers who wear the jeans or costumes they've always worn. But no one over the age of 25 should have a damn earring!

I shave with a blade once per week and with an electric twice a week.

My wife hates when I shave with a blade because I take blood thinners and can bleed like a stuck pig when I cut myself.

I lather up with shaving cream and go against and across the grain, then lather up again and go with the grain. But after reading this thread I might do the opposite next time I shave with a blade.

Sunday morning is when I used the blade.

I use the Norelco electric on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lighter pressure gets a closer shave because the whiskers don't get pushed down sideways.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I don't look to stubbly.

I shave before I shower. I don't like the idea of loose little hairs on my body. It's itchy.

A few years ago, on vacation in S Carolina, I was tempted to buy a boutique safety razor. That and a shaving mug, a cake of shaving soap, and a brush.

But I didn't.

I wear a full beard. My wife sees to it. I shave completely every couple of years, and that is dealt with at one of the many Turkish barbers in London, where you get a neck massage and everything included in the paltry sum. They make a great job, burning off fine hair and tidying up all that old man hair in the nose and ears, etc.

I shave after my shower with some Barbersol and a cartridge raise I get from Harrys.com. Usually I wet my face then the creme and go to town. The Harrys razor shaves me just as close as my old sensor excel did tbh.

Yeah, what you're doing, especially for a bleeder, is a really bad idea. Got a styptic pencil? Think of shaving as beard reduction. A pass with the grain, another across the grain, and then, maybe, if you're proficient, against the grain. I almost always get a baby butt smooth shave because I *need* to but I'm also using really good gear that's mild (like a Gillette Tech razor and Feather blades) and use a very light touch, no pressing on your face with the razor. It also helps that I don't have caveman whiskers (think Nick Tortelli).

After showering. Wet face, apply Barbasol shaving cream, shave with a cheap disposable "sensitive skin" razor. The thrill is gone.

Just got out of the shower. Lather and go with the grain. Lather and then go against and across. Blood thinners as well, though I can't remember the last time I cut myself. Less chance of it in the shower I would think.

since I ditched the goatee I shave in the shower. Don't need a mirror as it all comes off and my hand is enough to feel where I might have missed

cheap barbasol and the gillete 4 blader. But ran out of the pricey carts so have been using a disposable bic which does not work as good

water is a good lubricant so I can go over places that are not to my liking without a re-lather. Fast, efficient and does the job

have toyed with the double or straight that I read about here but that would add a lot more time to the morning routing that I just dont have right now

Norelco. I have one my mom, RIP, gave me for Christmas one year. I bought myself a second one about 10 years ago as a back up. While I was waiting for new blades for the old one, I tried thae new one. Heavenly.
