Years ago a girl drummer and I put our two competitive bands together into one and did pretty well. Weeding out some deadwood etc. Wound up with a pretty nifty well rounded group. Played together for about eight years.

Then life happened and we all scattered to the wind . Jobs, kids etc. A year ago one of the other guys called me up and we started jamming a bit. Next thing you know we did a couple of decent sized parties and a bar gig. Went ok.
Talked to the other clowns and finally I just told them its time to get this mess back together for a jam. We haven't played together in 37 years. So like I said the Eagles got nuthin' on us time wise . This weekend is it! It'll either be real good or at least real good laugh material as we're all in our mid sixties now. We're meeting at the drummers house cause she can't move her kit anymore. Guitarists are going to line out micro cubes to a PA . The bass player is going the DI route as well. My times have changed since we lugged huge rigs and organs with us........

Sounds like fun! Hope it goes well, I bet it goes better than you expect. Most importantly, hope it's a blast!

I hope a renewed band and regular jam comes out of this. My monday night rehearsal with my band is something we all look forward to each week.

Well we had one guy cancel on us ( breakdown) so he just couldn't make it work. The rest of us got together anyway just to fool around.
Musically it was rough as heck trying to remember each other's favorite stuff to do but we'll give it a go again in a few weeks. Hopefully it'll be better as we'll have a little more of an idea what everyone wants to do this time.
At any rate the memories are worth doing something like this and the "whatever happened to so and so" and "do you remember when we did that after the gig" stuff was fun.

Well a couple more weeks didn't matter much. We finally got together in one room.
The upshot of it was that there were a few things that were rough but since most of us had stayed active playing out off and on I was amazed at how much we still could slam together.
Another time or two I think we could still get out there and gig ( at least for an older crowd) . Not going to happen I'm sure. We're too scattered out location wise but it was cool to see how much we had retained.
