I'm re-capping my 1968 Sunn Sentura I and at the same time I'm replacing the multicap can (30, 20, 20, 20) I want to replace the 6.8K and 10K resistors as indicated in the link below.

At present the 6.8K 5 watt resistor is a wirewound cement type and the 10K 2 watt is a carbon comp.

I was thinking about replacing the 6.8K with an Ohmite wirewound Brown Devil rather than the current wirewound cement, as well as replacing the 10K with a metal oxide rather than the carbon comp.

Would this be a wise choice ?

About as ordinary as you can get.

I have a bunch of old 5 watt carbon resistors if you need them for your project. I can test to make sure they are well within tolerance.

Appreciate it, but went ahead and ordered the metal oxide.

I found that that older carbon comp had drifted a bit so figured get modern and stable !

Thanks for offering though !

And metal types have the advantage over carbon of not presenting 'fuel to the fire' should the part overdissipate significantly, which is beneficial in the case of power supply components!
