FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Stratocasters / American Elite Strats

Hi there - I have noticed that there seem to be an unusually high availability of the new (2016?) Elite Strats available, especially through Guitar Center. The price range seems to run from about $1200-$1500 USD, which is a nice discount off of the $1900 regular price. Does anyone have any perspective or opinion on why there are so many used ones available within the first year or two of availability? It feels a little off. I love the upgrades though (N4s, compound radius neck, C-D neck, etc...) Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I wasn't in the market for an Elite because I have four American Deluxe Strats (which is predecessor to the Elite line).

Car and music gear makers typically sell last years model at a discount before the new year models come out.

Thanks replying - it just feels off that the brand new Elite model introduced in 2016 would already have a high volume used market at such a discount.

It's not like a new car that's instantly worth 30% less once driven off the lot. I've played a couple Elites, and really like them but trying to figure out if ordering a used one from another city for $1200 is worth the risk. I suppose it is. :)

As long as you can return it if something's wrong with the Elite, such as fret sprout.
