I might just make an impromptu visit north to Michigan.

Wifey has a conference in Puerto Rico in October. Things could get interesting.

It looks like this one will hit the US somewhere. If it gets into the Gulf of Mexico it could be very bad for Texas. I know it is hard to predict but it would be nice if this thing would take a northern route. Oh well, it is hurricane season.

If I lived in Florida, Gulf, SE Coast, I'd be laying in supplies now or more likely would have done it this past weekend.

I'm going out today to get some stuff - batteries, gasoline containers, propane gas for grill, non-perishable food, etc, 'cause it looks like Irma could smack us good. Last year, the hurricane turned away from the Vero Beach area and hit further north, but I'm not feeling so lucky this year.

greg, I'm just a little north of you. Latest looks like there will not be a direct hit on the FL east coast. Not looking good for the Keys though.

We got supplies ready to go just in case but I'm going to wait a bit to decide if the shutters go up or not.

Stay safe all.

getting ready here on the Space Coast even though it looks at this point to stay further south..I've got a block house, and plywood for every window and door....
The track of a hurricane can shift with little warning and I never trust the weatherman!

even though they can tell me for certain that the earth's climate is changing...(rolls eyes)

Warmer ocean water increase the pickup of moisture into the he storm and drives its additional power.

Similarly, heavier winter snow up in the Northeast has been a function of the storms arriving with more moisture.

I'm about 50 miles from the gulf and 85 miles from the Atlantic. I'm as prepped as I'm gonna get except an oil change tomorrow am and a doctor appt in the pm. I'll probably make the call tomorrow around 3pm if we hunker down or join the gridlock north. Blech.

You guys on the coast take care. This is a bigun.

""This is a bigun" Right now it's skirting Antigua and headed straight towards St. Barts, with winds there forecast at 115-130 mph. That's really bad.

We have the shutters up and are scheduled to head to Blue Ridge, Georgia for 10 days in the mountains this Thurs.

Good luck to us, we'll need it.
