I've used Tracktion since version 1. I've been using Tracktion 6 for the past couple of years. They have now made it entirely free of charge. No more excuses of having to shell out big bucks for a full fledged DAW. Tracktion really does have it all.

Yea, saw that myself and been using 6 since it was introduced (never saw a reason to upgrade to 7, since it was extremely, extremely incremental).

Hell, I still have T3 installed to use a few of the legacy Mackie plugins sometimes!

No complaints, I've never lost a session to it crashing, automation is simple, and it was zero effort to get it to integrate with my control surface when I got it last year.

Dumb question, but I have very little experience in this area. I am running Pro Tools 10 in Windows 7. I believe all my plugins are AAX. What's the likelihood any of those would work in Tracktion? And, if not, should I be able to download the proper plugin format if I paid for it? (I.E.-EZdrummer, Autotune, a variety of Softube plugins, etc.).

No idea.

Download T7, see if they work, otherwise, look at individual vendors' pages for alternate versions.

I think AAX is Avid Proprietary, so not likely. I would hope all the non-Avid bundled plugins would offer alternate formats for other DAWs. I'm comfortable running PT, just thinking ahead.

Most of the bigger name plugins have VST versions and you likely have access the many of those for which you bought AAX versions.

I still use the Mackie plugins as well. I love the channel strip and Final Mix plugins.
