I bought a used Epiphone ES 335 Pro on Saturday via a trade in. What an excellent guitar! I'm shocked at the quality, it seems as nice as my Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro II.

The previous owner replaced the "E" logo pickguard with a plain black one. The guitar came with a very nice HSC too.

The 335 has 11's on it, but still plays really well. I prefer 10's on shorter scale guitars, but I'm leaving the 11's on for a recording project that's very jazz oriented.

Who new? (:oD

Congrats!

I think that E was a sticker and peeled off. At least it was on my Dot.

Yep, nice guitar. My "e" peeled off quickly. I'm getting around to putting together a track in the vein of Crossroads just to feature this guitar.

Well then maybe the "E" was peeled off.

littleuch - I can now see how Clapton played those Crossroads solo parts in the key of A way up the neck due to the access provided by the 335. It's harder to play those notes on a Les Paul.

It's good to hear that said. Some Epi'scan be a decent sub at a reasonable price.

Reading the OP I though yep, the E fell off just like my Dot Deluxe. Great guitars for the price. Congrats and enjoy!

It's actually part of the Epiphone guarantee that the E will fall off within the warranty period. If it doesn't you can return it and they will remove it.

But seriously, yes, they can be nice guitars. I've often considered one to pair up with my Sheraton, and maybe even keep a guitar that I haven't swapped the humbuckers out of!

These Epis can have quite a harsh edge on the fingerboard, and one thing you can do to make it feel and play better is take some 600 grit paper on a block and sand the edges of the fingerboard to a rounder shape. You will be removing some fret end as well so go carefully, and re-angle the fret ends with the block, and smooth with a fret file. There should be plenty of room between the strings and the fret ends to do this safely.

I hear the 335 Pro's are much better quality and tone than the Dots.

Rob - Can I upload photos to the FDP by logging into the site using my iPhone (all recent photos are on the phone)?

The whole transferring photos to my PC to upload is too much bother for me.
