I've always been interested in the Marshall Lead 100 Mosfet Head from the 80's. I watched some demos on YouTube this morning, really liked what I heard, and ended up buying one off of Reverb in very good condition from a shop in Pennsylvania.

Based on the YouTube videos, this is the best sounding solid state amp that Marshall ever made.

My Marshall 1936 2x12 cab will no longer be headless. And this Marshall head was relatively inexpensive. (:oD

Yes. Those were pretty good SS amps indeed. The made a 2x12 combo version that was a beast!

I had a 90s Mosfet Marshall 100 watt Head that I thought sounded pretty good. It had a single 12AX7 in it. It had a 4x12 cab and was just too big to cart around. It was every bit a Marshall. I sold it to a Dad that was looking to get a big amp for his son for a Heavy Metal band.

Here's a good video demonstrating what this head sounds like through a Marshall 1936 cab.

ps - The odd thing is a wore my Marshall hat while walking our dog this morning and the Mosfet idea popped into my head.
