NPR had a program this morning about the stock market. Amongst all the BlahBlahBlahBlah I heard one thing that stuck with me:

"The stock market is NOT the economy."

Good point.

Ok, so there has been an inflation buzz for a week or 2 now.
Yet each day, it's still reported like it's some new surprise.
Can the media get any worse?

The inflation thing is such a scam. Anyone who thinks we haven't been suffering significant price increases in food, services, healthcare, housing, clothing, etc. over these past 10 or so years is blind. This report, like so much of what's been happening lately, is political.

Yawn...I fell asleep in late January. Looks like market is flat. Hmmmm...oh well. Back to sleep.

I'm curious if those of you peeking came up with similar results. My January gains were substantial, February wiped those gains out within a few dollars. This is for a Vanguard Personal Advisory IRA with no contributions.

Today looks like further decline.

A frustrating observation is that when the market is down, my losses are more substantial than my gains on days when a similar upswing happens. I wish I knew more about this stuff.

Being retired, my main concern is whether or not my stocks pay their cash dividends. And so far they have. I'm more interested in generating income than capital appreciation.

Just peeked for the first time in a month.

YTD (Jan-Feb) is still positive, 0.08% haha.

1 yr 15%.

Doubt 2018 will return anything near the last two years but still can't complain too much about the market.

Uh-oh. Gary is quitting.
Wall Street is not going to be happy.
I guess Wilbur won out on the tariff thing.
Well our retirement is now in the hands

"whether or not my stocks pay their cash dividends."

btw with low interest rates, aren't dividend producing stocks kind of like the bonds of our time? :)

I’m up 1.08 and 1.73% YTD on my two funds. Given all the excitement recently, I’m satisfied.
