I think this guitar would feel better if there was still some laquer on the back of the neck, honestly I do not get the sanded down feel and will most likey spray some clear back on it. My first thought when I walked into this pawn store was that someone did a home relicing job to it....

Why did I buy it? Well its my birthday and I originally went to a shop that had a mint 60th Anni standard in 2 tone for $700 and when I walked in the case was in the hands of someone walking out the door :( Oh well.. I proceeded to another shop that always has a fresh supply of cheezy wall hangers and found this one. It sounds very good and has a white guard nice and old looking. I only see ones with black guards but the all the specs I see on the web say white single ply... whatever. I am pleased with this purchase and actually sold a gun a couple days ago which covered the $450 I just paid. Thats another head scratcher! $800 plus everywhere I look! Linking a bragging picure..

Edited to add that the pickguard has a bow in it :-) Talk about aging.

About as ordinary as you can get.

Nice "old" Tele.

Re: the back of the neck, the finish on the back of my Tele neck is very worn also. It may not work for you but before about every gig, I rub on paste wax on the back of the neck, let it dry, then buff it off. The neck feels great. I've just gotten used to it.

Frogman. Is it a new road worn tele? From what I have read I thought the newer ones had less relicing.

teemon, its a 2012. What I see online for the new ones there does seem to be less in the way of wear on them.
