CO2 ... is there anything it can't do?

I'm not really a movie guy, but there are a few actors who automatically get my attention. Oldman is one of them.

Churchill is one of those great historical figures -- people either love him or hate him.

It will be interesting to see how he is portrayed here.

Ho-ly mo-ly that is great makeup.

Oldman has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I'll be seeing it.

Now why do they have to go and do that?

Another Churchill movie starring Brian Cox looks good too.

NoSoap> "Churchill is one of those great historical figures -- people either love him or hate him."

In these days of revisiting the past, always seemingly with a 'twist', I am not sure any reputation is safe. He is revered here, and rightly so. Whatever his flaws, and none are without, he took us through that darkest hour and that truth is undeniable.

Haven't seen either movie, but I suspect both will provide something new over previous biopics.

If anyone fancies a war movie, try Sam Peckinpah's masterful 'Cross Of Iron'.

I envision Gary Oldman as Churchill as Zorn...

Oldman is a fantastic actor, and I imagine he'll do great, but he seems like an odd choice.

The makeup does wonders I guess.

I'll be seeing it too.

Oldman is one of the best ever.

His Christopher Walken is good, but his

Saw the film.....it was good, not great IMHO, YMMV.

It could have been a stage play. Everything played out within the first third of the film, but that's history.

He played a great sociopathic villain in one of my favorite, post-apocalyptic tales...

I wonder if the movie touches on that and, if so, how they deal with it.

(no spoilers, please, those of you who have seen it)

I saw both the Churchill films and although Brian Cox did an admiral job he was completely wiped out by Oldman. The movie may not be to the liking of everyone if they were swayed by seeing the trailers before because there is only a brief moment of actual bombing and destruction shown. Both movies are more a character study of his private life, his doubts and his convictions.
A fact that many people may not know is that Churchill was thrust into the Dunkirk dilemma only a few weeks after becoming Prime Minister. Hardly enough time to win the confidence of the nation. I give the film a big thumbs up.

His George Smiley in Tinker, Tailor... was understated intensity.
