Why do I need another well-made Chinese guitar? Why not! I've been lusting after one of these and can't bring myself to drop $2800 on a JSM100 so I pre-ordered a JSM10 from Sweetwater. Comes with a hard-shell case for $1099, something the similar AS153(I think) doesn't get @ $999. The JSM10 seems to be a hard guitar to get ahold of. They are rarely in stock at the big internet stores. So, anyway, we shall see if I "need" another well-made Chinese guitar!

Please report in with your review. The JSM10 has been on my list of affordable quality 335's for awhile but I've never seen one to try.

There is a used Ibanez AS153 about 1.5 hours away from me. $690 with case. I'm thinking of going to try it but curious what the overall differences are between it and the JSM10.

Bought one a week ago.
Amazingly good build. The fret work is perfect, honestly the fretwork is probably as good or better than any American guitar I own. Bone nut, the tuners are good. I really like the pups, the pots are going to be replaced. Functional, but could be better and it's really the only thing about it I don't like. I have some custom wound Seymour Duncan PAF's that I somehow acquired years ago and never used, so I'll probably pop those in. The stock pups do sound great, but they'd probably be more versatile with better pots. The tri-sound switch for the neck is a nice touch...and useful.
Unlike the photos on websites, the pups on mine weren't engraved like the Super 58 Custom's you see online...but they were Super 58 Customs. When I changed the strings I popped them off and checked the serial numbers.
The only difference I see in the JSM10 vs AS153, the headstock shape, different types of mahogany used for the neck and the JSM neck width is slightly wider. The greater neck width doesn't make the neck huge. I have medium sized hands and this neck is VERY comfortable.

OK, I went to check out that used AS153 yesterday. It's a beautiful guitar in build quality and appearance. Everything that daveg mentioned above about the JSM10 applies to this used AS153.

I was not blown away by the pickups. They seemed very neutral, almost to a fault. And not very strong for HB's. I brought along my Epi ES339 Pro to potentially trade towards the AS153 and grabbed a new Epi ES335 Pro off the shelf to compare vs the Ibanez. No other semis in store. Played through a used Twin Reverb. Mmm. The stock Epi pups, although a little muddy on the neck pup, seemed to have more color than the 58's. I was surprised.

I'm sure the pups could be optimized by adjusting the heights but I didn't want to get into that in the store. So I returned home with my Epi 339 Pro to think about it.

Still curious to hear how your JSM10 experience goes jhawkr.

Not that I have all that wide a range of experience with Humbuckers, but those Super 58 Customs are some of the nicest ones I've heard.

That is super nice!!!!

My AM93L has the 58 Customs. Not the supers. I'm a bit of a pickup snob. Saying that, I feel no need to change these pickups.

Looking forward to your review.

My AM93L has quilted maple - front and back. It's not a bold quilt. But the guitar looks great.

Honestly, Ibanez knocks it out of the park in this price range.

I got the JSM10 in today from Sweetwater. Haven't plugged in yet as I'm at work but the guitar plays beautifully! Super low action right out of the box. Looking forward to hearing the pups this evening!

Holy crap! I love the Super 58's! Extreme versatility! Neck can do bassy/jazzy without getting muddy. The little phase switch on the neck pup works just on the neck but in the middle(both neck & bridge and upper, neck by itself. Gives you a whole new pallet to choose from. Started out playing clean which it did very well. But I was quickly overcome by the dark side getting just a bit of dirt when increasing pick attack. Launched into "Badge" with selector in the middle and did convincing rhythm tone for the song. Kicked on a bit of delay and some chorus and kicked it down to the bridge and faked the bridge of Badge. Hit the Soul Food for some solo passages and you wouldn't have known I wasn't using an ES-335 through a Marshall. (Amp was a Bassbreaker 15). Way cool. This Chinese Ibanez is a keeper! I'm freakin' impressed!
