$18 to $35 a night in 1971 plus a meal, a couple of complimentary drinks and a place to crash. I gave my buddy whose car we used in our travels $3 daily for gas. I quit it when I got married later that year. I didn't start doing it as a full timer until I quit college and needed to support a family.
